GURU Words of Wisdom
The T-Mobile or HTC G1, or "Googlephone", has almost all the features and capabilities of an iPhone, plus a slide out keyboard. It's clunkier and not as elegant as the iPhone, but for those who care more about function than form (or T-Mobile loyalists) the G1 is a good alternative.
Product Description
The T-Mobile or HTC G1, or "Googlephone", combines Google's Android OS with a hardware feature set that matches the iPhone. The G1 has a large 3.2" touchscreen (no multitouch), combined with a slide out keyboard and built-in accelerometer. The G1 is heavier and not as pretty as the iPhone or Pre, but true to its open-source image brings the flexibility of having a removable battery, a memory card slot for expandability, and easy access to the SIM card which enables the device to be used with any GSM carrier. Push email, as well as email and organizer functions, are tightly integrated with Google's online and PC suite, though the open source Android OS supports easy downloading of a large set of third party applications. The main complaints beyond the design are its poor battery life, the mediocre camera which comes without a flash, and T-Mobile's 3G network has limited availability.
