GURU Words of Wisdom
The Apple iPod Shuffle is a basic, flash-based MP3 player, with limited memory and no screen. But it's compatibility with Apple's iTunes store and its small size makes it a good choice for those on a budget.
Product Description
The Apple iPod Shuffle is Apple's lowest priced MP3 player. The Shuffle is remarkably small and thin, but as a result sacrifices a screen, which limits the ability to search and control playlists on the device. Song capacity is also limited compared to more expensive devices, though the 4GB memory size will allow 1000 songs. But if you can live with these limitations, and want a very small, low priced device that works with your existing iTunes library and Apple's iTunes store, then the Shuffle may be for you.

Manufactured Outrage ?
The Logical culmination of Apple's "form over function" design theory. 3rd Gen Shuffle talks, but, still lacks an LCD screen and has a remote with a learning curve.
